Week twelve already, where did the time go? In this week’s share:
- bitter melon
- baby bok choy
- collard greens
- lettuce
- white carrots
- onions
- eggplant
- cubanelle and yellow peppers
- cherry tomatoes
- slicing tomatoes
- peaches
- raspberries
- Paula Red apples
Bill also gave me some amazing, hand-picked-an-hour-earlier green beans – YUM!
The weather this week at the farm was absolutely amazing – sunny warm but not hot, dry, clean and crisp smelling – just a perfect September day. It was still toasty like summer, but I could feel the beginning of autumn heading my way. And the light seems to be changing so quickly, it’s almost twilight by the time I leave.
In spite of the blight, we’re still getting some gorgeous tomatoes – this week the cherry tomatoes were purple!
The pick-your-own garden is so pretty right now…
I’ve been taking bunches of flowers to put all around the house.
Some of the farmers’ fields are winding down for the season…
But some are still going strong…
I also found some spooky scarecrows – they sure scared me!
This week’s tasty treat from UTEC?
Delicious Spiced Oatmeal and Dried Fruit Cookies – I love an oatmeal cookie and this one did not disappoint – YUM!
In other news, I am really enjoying being back at work! I’m learning a lot (seriously, a lot) and I am super-excited for all of the neat things that I’m going to be doing. I won’t lie though, this week has been quite the adjustment – I had forgotten how hard it is to fit everything into one day.
It’s quite a switch, going from having one person (me) at home doing all of the house stuff to having to split those responsibilities between two people who are working full-time, one of whom (again, me) has a million hobbies and plans and whatnot going on. I think that is going to be the biggest adjustment for me – now I have to juggle a job that has a lot of evening meetings with all of the other activities I love – spending time with Gist, knit night, yoga, hanging out with friends, swimming, cooking, volunteering, etc. I’m not complaining and I know I’ll figure something out but, man, I was used to having unlimited time!
Anyway, I’m beginning to remember why so much takeaway was ordered and we spent so many nights eating out, but having all of these gorgeous veggies in the house has helped to keep me on my toes!
Have a happy long weekend! The weather in New England is supposed to be gorgeous, I hope it is wherever you are too!

Such beautiful photos. I’m suffering from major CSA envy! So glad that you enjoyed your first week of work. Yay for you!

Thanks! I’m so sorry to hear that your CSA stinks – that’s such a bummer!
