Art is the Handmaid of Human Good

Life in Lowell, Massachusetts, USA

Monday, Monday (wait, it’s Tuesday)

Lowell, MA
Sunny and cold – 34 to be exact.

Mmmm, not too much to say. I just realized that it is not Monday – I was out sick yesterday and I spend most of the day asleep. I have been feeling pretty lethargic and nauseated lately but I am feeling much better today.

The weekend was pretty nice. On Saturday Gist and I drove down to CT and then Gist, Nancy and I went shopping in Wickford, RI. Wickford is a really cute little town with a lot of great little shops. I got a lovely shawl/wrap thing that I just love. It was a pretty expensive birthday present to myself. Saturday night we had a delicious dinner: salt crusted chicken, baked potatoes, roasted broccoli and cauliflower, and (the crowning glory) a chocolate-peppermint ice cream cake. The cake was delicious: two layers of chocolate cake with a peppermint stick ice cream stripe in the middle, topped off with a cool whip frosting. It was dee-lic-ious!

Sunday we had breakfast with Nancy and Bruce (homemade waffles and bacon – yum), went to The Flying Carpet and Scranton’s Shops and then we went to Gist’s parent’s where I got my birthday present – a Cuckoo Clock! I was very excited to get it but (and this is sad) it broke when I got home. I hung it on too-short of a nail and it fell. It was quite sad but Gist promises me we can fix it.

That was a small blight on the weekend as was the fact that Gist and I have been experiencing a bit of a rough patch caused by business, stubbornness, some misunderstandings, and bossiness. I think the fact that I didn’t feel well and Gist was feeling extra-sensitive didn’t help matters. Anyway, we’ve talked about it and things seem better.

Well that’s about it – I am trying to decide whether or not I am going to go to my book club tonight…
On the pro side:
* I love my book club.
* I always enjoy myself.
On the con side:
* I have only read four pages.
* I am tired.
* If I go I’ll have an obligation every night this week (which I hate.)
