Lowell, MA
Still raining and heading for the flood stage.
Well it has been raining for about ten days and there is no end in sight. The Merrimack id dangerously high and flooding is predicted for Lowell. There is some talk that the river may get higher than it did in 1936: the last big flood in the region.
*Update*
Wow. Things are getting serious. Francis Gate was lowered this morning for only the third time in history. It was lowered once in 1852 and once again in 1936. The river is five feet above flood level and it isn’t predected to crest for another eight hours. CBA is officialy closed and I am going to leave soo because I want to look at the river and canals.
I left work at about 2:30 and biked around ant took pictures. Here’s a montage:
