I LOVE vacation, don’t you? Mine started two Fridays ago with Kate and Julie’s annual trip to Lowell to see the Indigo Girls at Boardinghouse Park. It’s always a good time, and this year was no exception.
We had great seats and I was able to work on Melody’s Shawl before the show and during the opening act, Rose Polenzani.
I also knit during the intermission and for a tiny bit during the Indigo Girls set until it got too dark.
After that, I just listened to the music.
After the show we headed back home for some pizza and Rock Band! Good times! We were the best band this world has ever seen!
On Saturday we got up early and Kate and Julie made us breakfast and then we headed off to NYC! When we arrived we found out that our hotel was overbookd so they sent us to The Blakely – very nice! We freshened up and then set out to dinner. Of course we walked there and back so we could see the sights.
Our favorite sight? Jamba Juice!
We hadn’t been to a Jamba Juice – YUM – since leaving California. It certainly was a tasty treat!
On Sunday, we woke up, ate breakfast and walked six long blocks to the Manhattan Cruise Ship Terminal where we saw our home for the week, the Norwegian Dawn, at the dock. Once we boarded, we headed straight for the pool!
Where I proceeded to drink many, many piña coladas!
There was a bon voyage party on deck as we passed the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Verrazzano Bridge.
Then it was time to check out our room (with a balcony – whee!)…
And get ready for dinner at Teppanyaki, an Asian restaurant where the chefs cook all of the food on a hot grill. It was delicious! After dinner, we headed to the night’s entertainment, “Rosie’s Broadway Belters”. It was hosted by Rosie and featured a variety of Broadway stars paying tribute to Barbra Streisand.
Monday was our only sea day and what a lovely, lazy day it was! We ate breakfast on the Promenade Deck.
And then explored the ship and were just generally lazy. There was a Stitch-n-Bitch in the afternoon and I got to meet some fellow knitters and work on Melody’s Shawl.
All in all, a great start to vacation. Next up? St. John!
