It has, thankfully, been a pretty uneventful week. I have some big work deadlines coming up and a big work event tomorrow but I have managed to be pretty calm about all of it. Yay me!
Totally uneventful. The highlight? These lovely flowers that I got with my CSA, the World Peas Coop which is a project of the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project (NESFP). It’s great program and I get great veggies, fruit, flowers, and herbs – I love my CSA!
A lovely day. Gist and I got to take a most adorable baby and her mom to the beach for the first time (baby’s first time, not mom’s).
Nothing special. Well, we did get all of our weekly errands finished by 11:00 am – pretty impressive. Then we sat around and watched teevee and movies and Gist made the cute cardinal. Very relaxing and slow.
Now Monday was something special. It was the prettiest day we’ve had this summer. The perfect mix of bright sun and big, poofy clouds, hot but not oppressive, dry, the air smelled fresh, a slight breeze – it was just lovely. I walked home and stopped on my way to read by the river.
Another uneventful day. I went to work, did my job, came home and mixed myself a drink and went directly out to the balcony to read. It made for a nice transition from being busy at work to being home and relaxing. Sebb came outside with me and I plied him with treats in order to get him to pose.
Now Wednesday started out miserably. I was in a foul mood, it was pouring – blah. I went to work and hid in my office and buried my head in work (the safest thing to do when I’m in a mood). I brought a mailing to the bulk mail office – it was pouring, Put-Put hates the rain, there was traffic – ick! Then I headed home and my day improved. Why? My new Wii Fit. I loves him. I ski jumped, dodged soccer balls, hula hooped, and stepped my way to a better mood.
Thursday?
More rain – boo! Bust also CSA day – YAY! Plus more Wii Fit in the morning – YAY! I brought my veggies, flowers and herbs home and took them out of the box. Then I took a million pictures of my bounty and set out to make supper. I made Rigatoni with Eggplant Puree, a recipe that I found while searching for recipes that use eggplant, a veggie that I don’t love but had one of in the fridge and another coming in the box. My search led me many places until I ended up at Smitten Kitchen – wow – needless to say, bookmarked. The recipe was excellent. I, of course, switched it up a bit because I don’t often like to be bothered with things like, um, measuring. So I used two eggplants, I added some ricotta (because I had some fresh from the farm and if I hadn’t used it in a recipe I would have stood with my head in the fridge, eating it with a spoon *ahem*), used both fresh mint and fresh basil in the puree, and used a combination of regular, roma and cherry tomatoes. It was tasty last night and it was tasty today for lunch!
So that’s it, my week. How has your week been and do you have any fun plans for the weekend?
