The Best Lentil Soup Ever
That is not hyperbole. It’s the honest truth; Gist and I love this soup so much that I have made a big pot of it every week for the past month and a half for us to bring to work for lunch. So good!
Honestly the best thing to ever come out of my kitchen…
I made this pie for Gist’s birthday because she loves peanut butter. Loves it, loves it, loves it. Peanut Butter Pie is her favorite dessert and when we go out to eat it’s usually her pick. Continue reading
Hitting the reset button…
Last week was a budget buster! I managed to keep the grocery bill under $60 but the only way I was able to do so was because we ate out on Monday, got pizza on Wednesday, ate out on Saturday, and went out to brunch on Sunday morning (and I enjoyed every second of it) – that’s like a typical pre-layoff week for us and it was pricey. This week will be all about reeling it back in. Continue reading
Cullen-Cakes & Spinach & Artichoke Dip
Did you know that Twilight came out on DVD yesterday at 12:00am? That sound you hear is millions of teenage girls (and others) turning the teevee on and letting out a sigh over the dreaminess that is Edward Cullen. My friend Erica hosted a Twilight Movie Release Party last night to celebrate – I just love a theme party don’t you? My contribution? Cullen-Cakes, red-velvet cupcakes with sparkly white frosting (just like Edward in the sun). Continue reading
Happy Spring!
Some tulips at the Bulb Show. I adore tulips!
Do you want to know the hardest part of keeping track of what I eat for $60 a week? Taking pictures. Today I have one, not so great photo of my supper because by the time I had prepared it I was so starving that I didn’t want to take the time to compose and take a good shot. It’s something to work on for the future… Continue reading
Mmmmmmmmmmushrooms!
Only one picture of this pizza was taken because I couldn’t wait to dig in – I’m lucky it turned out.
If you like mushrooms, then you’ll like this recipe. I love mushrooms. Always have. So much so, that when I was a child my father bought me a kit for growing mushrooms at home – we grew them in the attic and they were pretty awesome. Gist, on the other hand doesn’t love mushrooms. It’s a problem with a simple solution – when Gist is away, I eat mushrooms. Lots and lots of mushrooms. Obviously, Gist wasn’t home. Continue reading
Moroccan Spiced Chickpea Soup
This is a most excellent dish – easy, tasty, healthy, and even better as leftovers. I discovered it when Gist and I were at the D****’s hanging out and cooing over baby Alice. We were watching the Food Network and this recipe was on Good Deal With Dave Liberman, a show I’d never seen before. I was so interested in the recipe that I looked it up when we got home and made it that week. It was as good as I had hoped it would be. Continue reading
