I made this over the very snowy New Year’s weekend and it is the perfect warm, smooth, comforting, and yummy thing to enjoy after playing in and shoveling the snow. Continue reading

Breaking blog rules.
Everyone knows you’re not supposed to talk about work on your blog, and even though I sometimes scoff at the rules that’s one that I’ve followed pretty consistently. That’s about to change because (as everyone who sees me on a regular basis knows) I just can’t keep quiet about a project that I’m working on: The Lowell Diaper Bank Collaborative.
The Collaborative is a partnership of local organizations who are working to collect and distribute diapers to local families in need. Diapers are both expensive and not subsidized by any aid programs, leaving a lot of local families in a pinch when working out their budgets. Did you know that infants need up to 12 diapers per day and toddlers need about 8 diapers per day? That means that an adequate supply of disposable diapers can cost over $100 per month.
The Collaborative is currently collecting diapers and we’ll be distributing in mid-January. If you are at all interested in helping out, please click that link above or send me an e-mail. I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled food posting (banana bread) next week.
Have a great weekend!
Baked Shells with Winter Squash
This right here may be the perfect late fall/early winter dish – it’s seasonal, warm, comforting, and (most importantly) delicious. Oh, it’s also pretty easy too. Continue reading
Caramelized Onion, Blue Cheese & Arugula Pizza
Mmmmmmmmm, pizza! This is an easy-to-prepare and tasty pizza, perfect for enjoying on a relaxing Friday night with some good teevee (hello, Gossip Girl) and a glass of wine. Continue reading
Apple Butter
I love this recipe. It’s easy and makes a deep, dark and rich apple butter. I was wondering what to do with the many, many, many CSA apples in the fridge when I stumbled across Lolly’s Food for Fall post – apple butter it would be! Continue reading
My favorite holiday!
Potato Leek Soup
I love potato leek soup – it combines all of the comfort and warmth of potatoes and soup, and what you’re left with is a big mug of win. It’s also a super-easy and quick weeknight meal, perfect for those cold fall and winter days when you just want to come home and curl up with your Snuggie and a good book… Continue reading
World Peas CSA – Week Eighteen
The last week, how sad. I didn’t take one of my famous “veggies on the counter” pictures this week because by the time that I got home from the cold farm and brought everything upstairs, it was all I could do to put everything away!
Fall has done its number on the farm – the leaves were in full color, the fields were mostly bare, the darkness came early, and as I mentioned before, it was COLD! Continue reading
Wish me luck!
I just entered Lowell National Park’s photo contest! These are my three entries, all taken on the wonderful Lowell Public Art Collection Walk I went on this past spring.
You can see all of the entries in LNHS’s gallery. If you are a local photographer, I encourage you to enter the contest!
Slow Cooked Black Bean Soup
Do you know what I’m lovin’ right now? My slow cooker! It makes getting supper on the table after a long day of work a snap. With a little prep, dinner’s ready to go when you get home. Continue reading
