The world only spins forward.
As I am sure you have gathered, this is most decidedly not a political blog. I love politics (PoliSci was one of my majors), reading about politics, thinking about politics, and discussing politics. That being said, this little corner of the internet is (for the most part) dedicated to food and knitting; the parts that aren’t dedicated to food and knitting are dedicated to random stuff that flits through my head at any given point in time – under that umbrella I am going to say a few words about yesterday’s elections (feel free to stop reading now if you wish and focus instead on the pretty leaf picture…) Continue reading
My favorite holiday!
Potato Leek Soup

It’s also a super-easy and quick weeknight meal, perfect for those cold fall and winter days when you just want to come home and curl up with your Snuggie and a good book… Continue reading
Quincy
I went and made myself a hat!
Pattern: Quincy by Jared Flood (aka Brooklyn Tweed)
Yarn: Classic Elite Ariosa
Raveled here.
I’m calling this hat “Mood Lifter.” I bought the yarn last Friday after a terrible, rotten, no-good day. It was my first yarn purchase for myself in, ummmmmm, over a year…
The yarn itself is a lovely, lofty, single-ply, barely-spun merino and cashmere blend. It was lovely to work with, and the hat is light and warm – I can barely feel it on my head.
The pattern was well-written, easy to follow and interesting enough that I looked forward to finishing but simple enough that I could work on it while watching teevee or enjoying a beer/glass of wine/cocktail. That being said, there are a few errors in the final product: they stem directly from my strong dislike of Kitchener stitch and my *ahem* inability to count.
